The new smartphone has attracted a plenty of phaplet fans who upgraded their Note 4 to the Galaxy Note 5. Unfortunately, some note 5 users encountered a broken Note 5 front frame when they accidently dropped their phones to the floor or tables. In this post, we teach you how to DIY fix damaged or broken Galaxy Note 5 front frame step by step.
Required Tools: Heat gun or hair drier, Spudger, Tweezers, Screwdriver, Plastic Opening Tools, Eject Pin, screen suction cup tool and prying tool
Required Part: A new Samsung Galaxy Note 5 front frame replacement part
Step 1: Remember to power off your Galaxy Note 5 and remove your SIM card tray.
● Press and hold the Note 5 power button and select power off.
● Take out the note 5 card tray with the eject pin tool.
Step 2: Remove the Galaxy Note 5 S pen.

Step 3: Start broken Note 5 front frame repair by heating up the Note 5 back cover.
Remove the Galaxy Note 5’s back glass cover to get into the phone. Follow these steps below.
● Use the hair drier or heat gun to heat up the Note 5 back cover firmly glued to the frame by the nasty adhesive. It usually takes one or two minutes.
Note: The Note 5 back cover is rock-solid and tight fit, so it is quite difficult to open the unit. If you find it difficult to push the case opening tool into the phone, you can heat up the back glass of Galaxy Note 5 again to soften the adhesive. Also, you need to handle carefully and gently during this process to avoid any damage to the Note 5 back glass or screen part.
Step 4: The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 back cover comes free now.
After you remove the Note 5 battery door, you can check out the adhesive sticker (the white strip).
Step 5: Unscrew the 20 screws securing the Note 5 screen assembly and back frame.
The 20 screws holds the note 5 LCD display assembly and rear housing tightly, so it needs more patients to twist these screws with a screwdriver.
Step 6: Separate the Galaxy Note 5 rear frame from the screen assembly.
With the screws out, you can push the Samsung note5 rear frame away from the screen assembly.
Note: There is a little adhesive strip along the corner of the Note 5 display assembly. Handle carefully and gently.
Step 7: Release the Galaxy Note5 motherboard.
1) Use spudger tool to pry up the related Note 5 connectors on the motherboard.
Note: These connectors include the Note 5 LCD and screen flex connectors, charging port flex connector, earpiece assembly connector, and home button connector. Remember to remove the USB board connector on the back.
2) With the help of tweezers or spudger, you can remove the two pieces of RF signal flex cables.
Note: Some Note 5 versions may have only one piece of RF signal cable.
3) Now lift up the Samsung Note 5 motherboard.
Step 8: Disassemble the Note 5 ear speaker assembly and vibrating motor part.
Both of the ear speaker and motor vibrator are installed to the Galaxy Note 5 front frame, so to replace broken Note 5 front frame, you need to remove the two components at first. You can release the Note 5 vibrating motor and ear speaker assembly with the help of tweezers.
Note: the Samsung Note 5 earpiece assembly is integrated by speaker and sensors. Take care when you handle this part.
Before prying up the Note 5 battery, you should remove the battery connector from the motherboard.
Note: There are some adhesive stickers underneath the battery, so you can heat up the note 5 battery to loosen the adhesive if necessary.
Step 10: Separate the Note 5 front frame from the LCD display assembly.
1) Use a heat gun or hair drier to soften the glued adhesive around the glass.
Note: The Note 5 screen is quite weak and the glued adhesive is strong, so it is very difficult and risky to separate the Note 5 front frame from the screen assembly.
2) Slide into the gap between the Samsung Note 5 front housing and the screen assembly to cut the adhesive.
3) Take out the Note 5 front frame part. And you should pay attention to the soft sensor keys on the bottom especially the flex.
Note: The Galaxy Note 5 charging board is integrated with the navigator flex between the note 5’s glass and LCD. And it is very difficult to pry up the Note 5 USB board from the front frame. If you need to remove the Note 5 charging port, it is better disassemble it under the instruction of a qualified person.
Step 11: Replace the broken Note 5 front frame with a new replacement part and assemble your phone.
● After the broken Note 5 front housing is removed, you can take a new front frame part for replacement.
● Assemble the new Note 5 front frame as well as other disassembled components to your phone in reversal steps.
Is it difficult to DIY fix broken or damaged Galaxy Note 5 front housing or frame part?
If you acquire the skills of DIY repairing smartphone, changing a broken or damaged Samsung Note 5 front frame is not much difficulty. But you need to be aware that the Samsung Note 5 charging port comes with soft sensor keys, integrated with the navigator flex between the device’s glass and LCD, so to remove the USB board, you should first disassemble the Samsung Note 5 glass and front frame.
